I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. I graduated from high school in 1983 and then went on to get a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry from HBU. It was there that I met my future husband, Michael. After working as a chemist for a year I decided to go to medical school and in 1993 I graduated from UTMB-Galveston with my medical degree. After that, I was off to Duke to do my residency in Pediatrics. Michael, too, got his M.D. and followed me to Duke. In 1995, we got married and a year later moved to Ft. Worth to start practicing for Cook Children’s Hospital. In 1999, we adopted our precious daughter, Madeline. After much thought, I decided to give up my practice and be a stay at home mom. Then, in 2002, I gave birth to our sweet son, James. I am still a stay at home mom, which I love, and I keep my medical license current so that I can still practice if needed. My other big interest is boxer rescue and I volunteer for LBR, fostering doggies in need.
